your-amiga.com: About

Marlene is a retired officer in the United States Army and a dedicated traveler. She uses Marlene as her “artistic” name because her middle name, like her photography, is mostly shared with family and close friends.

Marlene’s photography is a reflection of her passion for life. Through her travels she explores her own relationship to the world by visually discovering unique aspects to each place and subject she encounters. She uses photography to inspire others to see the world from a different perspective; to remind us there is so much of this world we often fail to see and appreciate. “I want to be an active observer not a passive bystander” summarizes Marlene’s philosophy in life and photography.

For as long as she can remember, photography has been one of her favorite pastimes. Since she has completed her academic goals, she is now able to dedicate more time to pursue her passion. She has taken classes at PhotoCentral in San Francisco, California; New York Institute of Photography; and Robinson Barracks Photo and Arts Center in Stuttgart, Germany.

Marlene’s camera gear includes a Nikon D5000, Nikon D40x, Nikon F10, Nikon Coolpix 8700, and Holga. Marlene's photographs are available directly from this site.
